Overview

Client: Thirteen

Project: Northshore

Apollo has completed several projects for Thirteen – the landlord and housing developer – including the transformation of its former headquarters at Northshore in Stockton-on-Tees.

The 43,000 sq ft building was custom-built in 2019, and its offices spread across every floor in one connected space.

However, when Thirteen relocated its operations to its newly-refurbished premises at Hudson Quay in Middlesbrough, the business needed to reconfigure its Northshore space into a multi-use office building for lease to multiple companies.

Apollo’s job was to create six separate office spaces across three floors, which could be accessed via a single atrium.

One of the biggest challenges of the job was removing staircases that linked the office spaces, and installing new concrete flooring in the 5x3m gaps.

That required the installation of metal flooring, then pouring concrete on top (pictured below) by going through the roof of the building.

Once that was set, Apollo’s engineers could fit a floating floor on top of the concrete, and then carpet tiles to finish the job.

Apollo also completed the following work:

  • New suspended ceilings were installed.
  • The building’s existing fire alarm system was integrated to work in the new layout.
  • New door-entry systems were installed and linked to existing systems.
  • Electrical work throughout the site, including the installation of new lighting in all areas of the building.

All Apollo’s work was designed to match specifications from the building’s original designs.

We also worked side-by-side with Identity Consult to achieve Thirteen’s vision for the site, as well as Coolcheck, which carried out the air conditioning and ventilation works.

Apollo’s engineers completed this project within its seven-week target and on budget, leaving the building ready to welcome new tenants.

Testimonial: “Apollo demonstrated a real ‘can-do’ collaborative approach in delivering the project on time and on budget. Their communication and client relations were top-rate, and their after-care has been professional and attentive.”
