Project: St Johns Fire Stopping & Compartmentalisation

Client: AMS Ltd

Following Apollo’s work for AMS Ltd at The Pearl on Newcastle’s busy Northumberland Street, we continued our relationship by winning a contract at one of its busy muti-use buildings.

Our job was the maintenance of all fire-stopping and compartmentalisation measures at St Johns in the heart of Leeds city centre.

St Johns has more than 250 fire doors spread between St Johns Centre, which has more than 30 retail units across two levels, as well as St Johns Offices, which has six levels of office space.

In order to bring all doors up to code for fire safety, Apollo adjusted and changed hinges, installed and replaced combined intumescent strips, and fixed any other damage.

We also installed 12 new sets of doors where existing equipment was no longer fit for purpose and needed to be replaced.

Apollo gives our clients peace of mind with our fire protection work thanks to our comprehensive quality management system. That involves taking a video of every door we adjust to show it operates correctly and closes fully at the time of service.

Our contract with AMS also includes an agreement for an annual service required by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRFSO) to ensure the safety of all the building’s users.

Testimonial: Simon Dean, Contract Manager for AMS, said: “From the initial enquiry to the works completed, Apollo are very professional.

“Great knowledge, professional service, fantastic communication and excellent engineers. Whatever the job, they will do their utmost to complete the works to the client’s expectation.”
